New here? This guide covers the essentials. Also check out the Server Rules, Player Commands, and FAQ.

πŸ›³οΈ Step 1 β€” Your First Login

IMPORTANT Step 1

Read the info screens in your respawn ship! They contain critical server-specific information.

IMPORTANT Step 2

Fix your ship β€” respawn ships disappear when you log out unless you use !fixship while looking at it.

IMPORTANT Step 3

Name your grid β€” rename to FactionTag.GridPurpose in the info tab. Example: ADM.Miner1. If not in a faction, no tag is required.

IMPORTANT Step 4

Vote for rewards β€” use !vote link to get the voting website, then !vote claim to receive your rewards. You get food, high-tier tools, and more!

βš™οΈ Step 2 β€” Server Basics

⚠️
This is a heavy PvP server. Hide well, defend your grids, and always be aware of your surroundings.
  • No airtightness β€” pressure is not simulated, build freely.
  • Store everything before logging off β€” tools, bottles, and items in cargo. Don't carry valuables when you disconnect.
  • Asteroids reset every last Friday of the month. They are restored to new, not respawned in different locations.
  • No server wipes β€” your grids will never be erased for a reset. If your grid is missing, check the restart requirements below.
  • Planets (except Thora) are not reset. Any holes you dig remain unless the server experiences issues requiring a reset (players are warned in advance).
  • Ammunition is made in the modded Ammunition Factory block, not the vanilla Assembler. Nukes and Swarm Missiles can only be made at the Ammunition Station when activated.

πŸ• Step 3 β€” Restart Schedule & Grid Retention

Restarts happen 4 times per day (all times CET):

00:00
06:00
12:00
18:00

Keep Your Grids Alive

A cleanup process runs during each restart. Meet any one of these to protect your grids:

Powered

Grids actively powered (battery with charge, reactor with fuel, etc.). A dead battery or empty reactor does not count.

Production

Grids with functional production blocks (Assemblers/Refineries).

Size

At least 20 blocks on the grid.

Player Owned

At least 1 block on the grid must be owned by a player.

Proximity

Minimum 5km distance from an online player.

Guaranteed Removal

The following conditions will always result in grid removal, regardless of the protections above:

πŸ—‘οΈ
  • Respawn ships β€” use !fixship to remove respawn status.
  • Grids with no owner β€” a wall of armour with no owner will be removed.
  • Wrong faction tag β€” if you are in a faction, your faction tag must appear in the grid name. Capitalization and location don't matter (Fac.MyMiner and MyMiner_FAC are both valid).

Performance Optimizations at Restart

To ensure optimal server performance after restarts, the following blocks are disabled on startup:

Timer Blocks
Programmable Blocks
Refineries
Assemblers
Projectors
Sensors
Pistons
Rotors
Gravity Generators
O2/H2 Generators
Welders
Grinders
Drills
Lights

These blocks must be manually re-enabled after restart β€” plan your base design accordingly.

🌟 Step 4 β€” Unique UpsideDown Features

πŸ›³οΈ Dockyard

Save your grids in your personal dock. While in port, they are safe from harm and reduce server load.

πŸ“¦ Quantum Storage

Store, transfer, and manage items across players and factions with advanced inventory commands.

View QS Commands β†’

βš›οΈ Quantum Computers (QC) & Thorium

Quantum Computers are a unique component used to build most non-standard blocks. You can get QC from:

  • Voting on the server (rewards page)
  • Mining Thorium from craters on Thora or the Thora Asteroid (spawns on schedule)
  • Loot grids spawned randomly (GPS provided to all β€” expect danger)

πŸ”© Titanium

Endgame material β€” used for the most powerful armour blocks. Obtainable only from:

  • Titanium asteroid (spawns on schedule)
  • Loot grids spawned randomly (GPS provided β€” expect danger)

πŸ”§ MK Blocks

Blocks marked MKx (x being the tier number). Each tier increases the primary ability by a factor of the previous tier β€” escalates quickly!

βš”οΈ WeaponCore

All weapons are powered by the WeaponCore mod. See the Weapons page for ammo types and stats.

🚫 Block Limits

Limits apply per grid, per player, per faction, and across the universe. See the full breakdown.
